Six seasons and a movie.
When I first heard of Community, I almost immediately disregarded its existence. I assumed it would be another mediocre sitcom, funny enough to watch while being average enough to make me hate myself for having watched. I could do something infinitely more entertaining or worthwhile with that half hour, I thought. I could start making a nice homemade meal, give up, and instead pay a visit to a local drive-through, I thought. I could masturbate furiously to terrible, disgusting porn, get distracted by a random thought, and end up unintentionally reading about string theory on wikipedia, pornhub tab still open and pants still down, I thought. I could mindlessly browse Reddit for thirty minutes, eventually forgetting to actually read the links, simply wanting to see them turn from blue to purple, I thought.
Well, I thought wrong. Community turned out to be an absolutely brilliant show, full of fascinating tales of interesting and coincidentally diverse characters. The minds behind Community seem completely uninterested in anything but making the best program they can. With its unique style, Community takes risks other shows won’t dare to even consider, and it pays off. It’s hilarious, it’s original, it makes me happy, and it’s only getting better. I’d hate to see it go.
